Jhinelle Dawson
Jhinelle Dawson, DHSc, MPH is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the School of Health Sciences at the University of New Haven. Since joining the University in 2019, she has been dedicated to advancing public health education and mentoring students in their academic and professional development.
 
Her work focuses on health equity, social determinants of health, health disparities, and community health. Jhinelle is committed to addressing structural inequities that disproportionately impact marginalized communities and believes strongly in the importance of representation in public health leadership.
 
Jhinelle serves as a Qualitative Consultant on a Gun Violence Prevention Grant, where her research examines healthcare providers’ perspectives on gun violence prevention, including perceived barriers, roles, and opportunities for strengthening prevention efforts within healthcare settings.
