Karl E. Minges, Ph.D., MPH was an associate professor and associate dean for research in the School of Health Sciences at the University of New Haven. In 2022, Dr. Minges helped the University of New Haven secure a $1 million grant from the Department of Justice’s Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office) to improve understanding of health care issues surrounding response to and reporting of gun violence. Minges worked with students to conduct several focus groups with health care workers to develop strategies preventing gun violence. His work also supported the understanding of community-level factors associated with gun violence in New Haven. Currently, Dr. Minges is the dean of the College of Health Professions at Sacred Heart University.
